The review values the book Simón I. Patiño and Albina Rodríguez. A founding couple from the perspective of its value as a historical discourse. In this sense, some perspectives especially developed by Ernest Renan are used to relate them to the way in which the Bolivian historical interpretation horizon was defined in the 20th century by Carlos Montenegro. Based on these intuitions, an attempt is made in order to make readable the contributions of a text as the one reviewed, meticulous and profound in its inspection of the daily life of one of the most important families of the Bolivian 20th century.
